Teaching Personnel is seeking a confident, charismatic and passionate Behaviour Mentor for a SEMH school in East Bristol.
This school specifically catering to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. They are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every child can thrive. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them manage their behaviour in line with school expectations.
- Build trusting relationships with students to foster a sense of safety and inclusion.
- Work alongside teachers and other support staff to implement personalised behaviour plans and strategies tailored to individual student needs.
- Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution.
- Act as a role model, promoting positive behaviour, respect, and resilience.
- Help students re-engage with learning after behavioural incidents and work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure a smooth transition back into the classroom.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies as needed to ensure the best outcomes for students.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, progress, and interventions, and contribute to behaviour reviews and planning meetings.
The successful educator will have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or other behavioural challenges (e.g., in an SEN school, pupil referral unit, or youth work setting).
- A patient, calm, and empathetic approach with a genuine passion for supporting young people with complex needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with students and work effectively within a team.
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies, de-escalation techniques, and restorative approaches.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations in a positive, solution-focused manner.
- [Desirable] Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or counselling, or specialised training in behaviour management.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
