Health Visitor

Lincolnshire, United Kingdom Lincolnshire County Council Full time
The role

We are seeking to recruit motivated practitioners with initiative and drive who are keen to contribute to the further development of our integrated children’s health service. The children's health team work within Lincolnshire County Council very closely with Children's Services (Children’s Centres, Early Help, Social Care and the developing Family Hubs) and other agencies to improve outcomes and reduce health inequalities for children, young people and their families in our care. Because we work alongside our Children’s Services colleagues, we are able to provide a comprehensive package of care to ensure that our children are able to achieve their full potential.

About you

We are seeking practitioners who thrive upon innovation and are not averse to change. It is essential that you are a keen public health advocate who can demonstrate delivery of the live healthy child programme.

You will need to have the ability to work autonomously and as part of an integrated skill mix team. You need to have excellent communication skills and experience of working in partnership across organisational boundaries.

What our staff say

We have regular one to ones and supervision to support our practice along with group safeguarding supervision and regular team meetings during which everyone’s voice can be heard and ideas shared. The training available is of a high standard and there are many opportunities provided to pursue your individual professional goals such as being a breastfeeding/mental health/autism champion or taking part in studies to enhance our practice (I recently took part in a pilot study around surviving crying).

According to its health profile, East Lindsey is an area of high deprivation which means that my caseload is extremely diverse and every day brings new challenges. Working as a Health Visitor means that I can make a real difference to the lives of the children and families I meet. The County Council encourage you to be part of the changing face of early years services and are very open to hearing your views; working groups aimed at developing the early years offer are currently in place both within Childrens Health and Childrens Services. Who would not want to be part of such a pioneering organisation?

Julie Bayliss HV East Lindsey South

Our offer

We can offer you opportunities for personal and professional development. The Children's Heath team has a strong champion role structure which helps support the service and development of staff by encouraging involvement of HV's in their area of interest, for example we are currently training practitioners in video interactive guidance, and as lactation consultants. In Children’s Health we support new areas of practice such development of the Early Language Identification Measure tool and accompanying interventions. At Lincolnshire County Council we strongly believe in supporting our HV's and provide regular clinical and safeguarding supervision.

For newly qualified practitioners, we have a preceptorship programme in place to aid your development. There will be the opportunity for career progression through the G9 and G10 pay-scales depending on knowledge and experience.

If you have contributed to the NHS pension for one year this can be continued and NMC annual professional fees are paid.

Interviews will be held 10/07/2024.

Please be advised that this position may be subject to a criminal record check.

All candidates are advised to read the attached job information pack prior to making an application.

On occasion we receive significantly more applications than expected for some vacancies and under such circumstances we reserve the right to bring forward the closing date of the advertisement. We operate a talent pool scheme whereby candidates who are not successful on this occasion may be considered for a period of up to 3 months for equal positions.

Lincolnshire County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
