Job summary

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Research Assistant Psychologist for a new Wellcome funded study, "SloMo2". SloMo is a digitally supported, cognitive-behavioural therapy for psychosis that improves fear of harm from others (or paranoia). You will be based in Brighton and Hove at the R&D department at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SPFT). Work will be undertaken across participating teams, predominantly within SPFT and possibly at other local participating NHS Trusts.

You will be joining a friendly study team and will work alongside a lived experience researcher and liaise closely with routine care psychological practitioners.

Main duties of the job

To liaise with NHS staff to promote SloMo To support identification and recruitment of potential participants To support informed consent of participants To extract, manage and report research data to a high standard To conduct person-centred, co-produced qualitative interviews To deliver internal and external presentations on the study To effectively use supervision and contribute to team meetings To promote and support Patient and Public Involvement and public engagement with the research To carry out other duties as agreed with the research team

About us

Our Research and Development (R&D) department comprises a large and vibrant multidisciplinary team focussed on clinical research design, delivery and dissemination. We lead and host a broad range of studies within our core research themes and supported by our 8 research clinics.

You will join a supportive and enthusiastic group of research assistants and clinical studies co-ordinators working across studies, themes and clinics, and will have the opportunity to take up a variety of continuous professional development opportunities.

The post will be linked to the Sussex Psychosis Research interest Group theme and the Sussex Psychosis (paranoia) Experiences and Recovery (SuPER) clinic, and to the Department of Psychology at the University of Sussex.

Job responsibilities

You study specific tasks and responsibilities will include

liaising with multidisciplinary teams and therapists; study promotion; eliciting and managing referrals; participant recruitment; taking informed consent; data collection of quantitative ( implementation, clinical, service use, technical and safety) and qualitative ( service user experience of therapy) outcomes; technical support.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Degree (2:2 or higher) in Psychology, or equivalent

Desirable

Further post graduate training in relevant area of professional psychology, health and social care practice, and / or research design and analysis

Experience / Knowledge

Essential

Experience of working with people with complex needs Experience of maintaining high standards in data input, cleaning, & data management Experience of summarising and reporting complex data Understanding of NIHR Good Clinical Practice Knowledge of databases, research skills and methodology Experience of working with people with disabilities, in a health or Mental Health setting and or work with people with complex needs Relevant clinical and research skills

Desirable

Experience of delivering psychologically-informed interventions

Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel, and data management systems Excellent organisational skills, including planning and problem solving Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to engage patients, carers, local communities, clinicians, and researchers Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to be flexible and cope with multiple demands.
