GSL Education is on the lookout for a dedicated and enthusiastic Behaviour Support Assistant with experience in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) to join our vibrant team. This role isn't just about supporting students; it's about being a positive role model, an advocate for change, and a beacon of hope for those who need it most.

As a Behaviour Support Assistant (SEMH), you'll:

  1. Empower Students: Work closely with students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges, providing them with the tools and support they need to thrive academically and personally.
  2. Implement Strategies: Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement effective behaviour management strategies, tailored to the individual needs of each student.
  3. Provide Mentorship: Act as a mentor and a confidant, offering guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear to students who may be struggling with various issues.
  4. Promote Positive Relationships: Foster positive relationships and a supportive learning environment, where students feel valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
  5. Support Inclusion: Champion inclusion and diversity within the school community, ensuring that all students feel welcomed and accepted, regardless of their background or circumstances.

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working with young people with SEMH needs, either in a school setting or a similar environment.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate empathy, patience, and resilience in the face of challenging situations.
  • Be proactive, creative, and adaptable, with a willingness to think outside the box and try new approaches.
  • Hold relevant qualifications or certifications in education, counselling, psychology, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
