As a Senior member of the systems team you will play a vital role in management andleadership and take ownership of and be reposnsible for the administration,configuration/development and support for one or more of the Trust's ClinicalIT systems.

The post offered offers great potential for personal andcareer development and enables you to enhance your knowledge of healthcare andclinical IT Systems.

We are able to offer flexible/hybrid working with theability to be based a one of several sites across County Durham, including atlocations in Darlington, Annfield Plain and Peterlee.

Any experience of Endoscopy, Audiology orOphthalmology systems would be beneficial in this role.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with other members of the systems team andstaff across Health Informatics and the wider Trust, you will be ressponsible for and ensure thereliable operation, configuration/development and support of one or moreclinical systems, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

You will need to be customer focused, pro-active, possessstrong communication skills, confident, IT skills and have a strong work ethic.You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team, committed to workingtogether in developing and supporting our clinical services.

You will be expected to influence decision-making withindivisions and corporate departments as well as within Health Informatics.

The role has line management responsibilitiesand as such you will be resoponsible for staff management, supervision andmentoring.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will report directly to a Systems SupportManager and work in close association with the team of other SystemAdministrators/Managers, Senior SystemsSupport Specialists and Systems Support Administrators.

You will be managing, supporting, administering, developingand configuring clinical IT systems, reviewing requests and incidents andengaging with stakeholders and end users on the systems you are assigned tosupport.

Duties will include:

Managing and supervising staff

Taking ownership of systems and responsibility for theiravailability and operation

Developing, reviewing and maintaining policies and proceduralsystem documentation

Ensuring the provision of proactive user technical support,identifying, analysing, recording and resolving users issues and offeringappropriate help and guidance

Administering and Indetifying wheere enhancing systems andoperations is possible

Monitoring thesystems using error logs and statistics as required and take corrective actions

Updating and configuring systems in an accurate and timelyfashion

Maintaining system software and when required, systemhardware

Implementation of new solutions or new/updated codesets

Audit systems, users and data to ensure accuracy and qualityof data

Manage suppliers and contracts

Make recommendtations to senior managers

Manage and lead on small projects and system upgrades

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

A degree in IT Systems, Software engineering , Computer Science or a related subject or relative equivalent experience. Evidence of continuous professional development.

Desirable

ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management.

Experience

Essential

In depth experience of managing or designing, configuring and supporting application systems. Experience of working in an IT/technical environment with evidence of continued professional development. Experience of supplier/contract management

Desirable

Experience of NHS or healthcare systems. Experience of teaching, coaching and leadership. Experience of managing change within an IT environment.

Special Skills and Knowledge

Essential

Demonstrable skills in Reporting and Database management. Demonstrable skills in the use of software and software development tools. A sound working knowledge and understanding of computer-based systems, software and applications. Ability to make judgements involving complex facts or situations which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options. An ability to plan and organise workload to meet objectives and deadlines. High level interpersonal and communication skills persuasion, negotiation, training, empathy and re-assurance. Ability to communicate highly complex, sensitive, contentious information where there may be barriers to overcome.

Desirable

Understanding of the application of modern IT solutions. Skills in Structured Query Language(s) SQL or similar. Understanding of clinical processes. Ability to manage small projects and technical implementations. Experience of healthcare environments. Proven experience in the development of computer based solutions. Experience of working within systems development environments.

Special Requirements

Essential

Commitment to developing own expertise. Able to participate in the appropriate on-call rotation as needed. Able to travel across Trust sites to meet the requirements of the post.
