Job summary

The RISE CYP Eating Disorders service aims to work with children and young people with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder and their families/carers in order to restore both physical and psychological wellbeing. We offer a range of evidence-based treatments for eating disorders and deliver this on an outpatient basis across the Trust. This includes CBT-E, CBT-T and CBT for comorbidities such as Anxiety and Depression. In addition, the service is planned to expand, including the development of an ARFID pathway, and it is envisaged clinicians will be offering CBT-AR in due course.

Main duties of the job

Providing supervision to designated CBT Therapists within the ED team.

Providing high quality CBT assessment, formulation and intervention for children and young people presenting with complex mental health difficulties and co-morbidities.

Providing CBT consultation to colleagues and professionals within and outside of the service.

Identifying and delivering, together with the ED clinical lead, CPD relevant to CBT therapists. .

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Masters level qualification or recognised equivalent qualification such as the Postgraduate Diploma in CBT. or Doctoral degree in:- Systemic Family Psychotherapy or Psychotherapy or Psychology (or equivalent for those who trained before 1996) as accredited by the BPS

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

Specialist knowledge of all the evidence-based CBT models, evidence for their use and detailed knowledge of common mental health problems. Working knowledge of arrangements for children's health services and early help including knowledge of legislation, SEND, statutory guidance, government policy, practice guidance and best practice. Ability to implement local policies and procedures relating to children and families. Ability to communicate effectively and influence others including presentation, oral, written and IT skills.

Experience

Essential

Post qualifying experience in CAMHS. Experience of delivering CBT-E and CBT-T interventions. Has extensive experience working as a qualified CBT practitioner and delivering CBT interventions to children and young people. Substantial experience in a supervisory role with the ability to supervise, mentor, and support staff.
