What Will Be Your Environment:

Our Research & Development team are based at the Hexagon Tower, Blackley, Manchester - a suburban setting, just four miles from Manchester city center, easily accessible via public transport.

  

What You’ll Do:

As a Laboratory Technician with our Applications group you will be part of a creative research department where our team use their technical expertise to evaluate chemical additives in Coatings, Inks and Composites applications and interpret and analyse analytical and performance data.  You’ll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions while developing your own skills as part of our successful team.

 

What We’re Looking For: 

While previous experience working in a laboratory environment would be an advantage, this role would also suit someone with a passion for Chemistry looking to get into their first laboratory based role.

 

  • Organise and prioritise the necessary internal laboratory work to support internal business partner needs, and report data in line with procedure.
  • Addresses problems from internal business partners, processes or procedures;
  • Perform a wide range of procedures, understand underlying operating principles, seeks to reduce variability and improve efficiency.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Operate in line with health and safety practices within the laboratory.
  • Establish relationships outside of the group in order to complete work.
  • Focused on and drives self-development with support of line manager.
  • Challenge the status quo to drive safety, operational and cyber security improvements.

 

Skills That Will Make a Difference: 

  • Science A Level, BTEC or equivalent laboratory experience in chemistry
  • Ability to apply scientific understanding to experiment planning
  • Competent in use of office and web based computer programs, databases and awareness of laboratory information management systems.
  • Understands concepts of control charts, data analysis and use of statistical tools.
  • Has the ability to perform tasks and communicate results according to defined project parameters.
  • Can handle multiple tasks simultaneously, is well organised and can prioritise effectively.
  • Demonstrates flexibility; is willing to work in any area of the department to ensure efficient operations.
  • Can prepare and deliver presentations with confidence and develop towards representing Lubrizol at industry meetings.
