Import/Export Coordinator

What you’ll be doing:
Key responsibilities
Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and customs requirements, staying updated on changes in regulations and implementing necessary adjustments.
Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and freight forwarders to plan and execute efficient import/export operations.
Maintain accurate records of shipments, including invoices, packing lists, and customs documentation.
Communicate effectively with customs authorities to resolve any issues or delays in clearance processes.
Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery, proactively addressing any potential delays or disruptions.
Provide support to retail partners regarding import/export requirements and logistics coordination.
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce costs in the import/export supply chain.
Handle inquiries and requests related to import/export activities from internal and external stakeholders.
Assist in the development and implementation of import/export policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Ensure exported products are restricted to relevant markets where necessary.
Accurate classification of goods using the Harmonised Tariff System.
Provide clear and concise Import Clearance Instructions to Carriers.
Undertake regular audits of supplementary declarations, ensuring 100% compliance with all customs formalities.
Preparation of information and reporting for management.
Skills and experience
Proven experience working as an Import/Export Coordinator or similar role, preferably in the retail industry.
Knowledge of customs regulations and procedures, with experience in customs clearance processes.
Sound understanding of bonded warehouse customs procedures (desirable)
Strong understanding of international trade documentation, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in using import/export management software and MS Office applications.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
Qualification in Customs/compliance (desirable).
