Since our inception in 2014, due diligence and strategic intelligence focusing on Russia, Central Asia, and the Caucasus has constituted one of our core specialisms and is a major part of our work.

We are seeking to appoint a new head of this growing team of associates and analysts. This position is based in London or Bucharest and will report to the Head of Due Diligence.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in enhanced due diligence, business intelligence, investigative research, or a related industry. We work across the due diligence spectrum, offering services also in strategic intelligence and investigations: as such, some experience in those sectors may be advantageous. The successful candidate will be looking for the next challenge in their career and will take the lead in taking our work on the region to the next level.

The requirements of the role are:

  • Team management
    • Experience in managing growing teams
    • Management, development and performance management of junior team members, with a particular focus on mentoring, coaching and quality assurance.
    • An ability to convey client requirements to junior colleagues, review their work and present back to clients.
    • Responsibility for the timely and quality delivery of due diligence reports to clients, including client-briefings.
    • A willingness and ability to be involved at all stages of report production when necessary.
    • Experience of interviewing and/or selection of team members in recruitment
    • Ensuring smooth communication both between team members particularly those located in different offices, and between them and the wider company
  • Industry and regional knowledge and experience
    • A substantial track record in producing enhanced due diligence reports for clients, with proven in-depth knowledge of the process and of the range of databases and other resources widely used for this in the region
    • Excellent skills in research, analysis and presentation of data
    • The management and growth of a network of trusted and high-quality human sources in the region.
    • An in-depth understanding of financial crime and strategic intelligence concepts, and of the client universe and client requirements in this industry
    • Keeping yourself and the team up-to-date with the evolving regulatory landscape, including financial or economic sanctions and trade controls.
  • Proven involvement in business development in this or a related industry
  • Regional business development, client management and networking working with relevant stakeholders.
  • Responsibility for drafting relevant and timely proposals.
  • Regular, targeted outreach to existing and potential new clients.
  • Ability to create networks and build relationships with existing and potential regional clients with the aim of bringing in business, and to identify, attend, and address industry events and host the same.
  • A proven network of relevant contacts in the region
  • Ability to identify emerging trends and opportunities in the region.
  • Client management including managing expectations, negotiation, handling client communication and briefing clients.
  • Targeted and relevant thought leadership.
  • Strategic thinking
    • Ability to contribute and align their team to company strategy

    • Fluency in Russian is a must and/or other regional languages is desirable
    • Fluency in written and verbal English is essential

The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK or Romania by the start of their employment. We are unable to sponsor work visas.
