What you'll do


As a Financial Control Manager at Sainsbury's, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Financial Control function to deliver core finance operations support and implement key projects and systems changes for Sainsbury's Bank and Argos Financial Services. 

You will be responsible for managing a team of assistant managers and analysts to ensure the seamless execution of end-to-end financial processes for our products, including Balance Sheet reconciliation and substantiation. 

Your role will also involve reviewing accounting processes and controls, identifying areas for improvement, and designing and delivering improvement opportunities. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing any actual issues or risk events that occur within the team, liaising with internal and external audit teams, and developing the accounting and control awareness knowledge of all team members. 

Deputising for the Head of Financial Control will also be part of your responsibilities. 

As a qualified accountant with significant experience in financial services and control environments, you will bring your strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with your expertise in end-to-end business processes and risk management, to drive improvements to systems and processes and ensure the implementation of robust control measures.

Who you are


As a Financial Control Manager at Sainsbury's, you are a qualified accountant with over 3 years of post-qualification experience. 

You possess a strong understanding of the control environment within a financial services organisation and have significant expertise in comprehending end-to-end business processes, risk management, and control design. 

With your exceptional PC skills, particularly in Excel and finance systems like Oracle, and experience working with large data sets, you excel in analysing data in a controlled manner and implementing well-documented processes. 

Your excellent planning, organisational, and change management abilities enable you to drive improvements to systems and processes while effectively collaborating and influencing team members and third parties. 

Highly numerate, analytical, and detail-oriented, you possess excellent problem-solving skills, ensuring robust financial operations and compliance with reporting requirements.
