Job Opportunity: Graduate Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated good secondary school in Wilmslow. This is a full-time position starting ASAP and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be an integral part of the school community, providing essential support to both students and teachers. This role is ideal for a recent graduate looking to gain valuable experience in education and make a positive impact on students' learning journeys.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Support:

  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging and effective lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Provide individual and group support to students during lessons, helping them understand and complete their work successfully.
  • Prepare and organize teaching materials and resources to ensure they are accessible and effective for student use.

Student Support:

  • Work with students who require additional assistance, providing targeted support to enhance their academic performance.
  • Conduct small group and one-on-one sessions to address specific educational needs and learning gaps.
  • Support students' social and emotional development, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Assessment and Feedback:

  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and other relevant staff members.
  • Assist in assessing students' work and offer constructive feedback to help them improve their skills and understanding.
  • Help prepare reports and documentation related to students' academic and personal development.

Behavior and Emotional Support:

  • Assist in managing classroom behavior, promoting a respectful and productive learning atmosphere.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to support students in developing self-discipline and positive attitudes toward learning.
  • Provide emotional support to students, helping them develop resilience and effective coping strategies.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with teachers, the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on students' progress and well-being.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in education support.

Requirements:

  • A degree in any discipline.
  • Experience working with secondary school students is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a supportive approach to working with young people.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the varying needs of students and the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
