Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant Position Available

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Wilmslow. This full-time position is available immediately and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The role offers a competitive weekly pay range of £419.25 - £500.

Role Overview:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting both teachers and students, leveraging your knowledge of psychology to enhance student learning and well-being. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Classroom Support: Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons, managing classroom behavior, and ensuring a positive learning environment.
  • Individual and Group Support: Providing one-on-one and small group support to students who need additional help, using psychological principles to foster learning and development.
  • Resource Preparation: Helping to prepare teaching materials, such as worksheets, presentations, and other educational resources to enhance lesson delivery.
  • Progress Monitoring: Keeping detailed records of student progress, identifying areas where additional support is needed, and reporting to teachers and senior staff.
  • Behavioral and Emotional Support: Applying your understanding of psychological theories to support students with behavioral and emotional difficulties, promoting mental well-being.
  • Mentoring: Offering academic and emotional support to students, fostering a supportive and motivating environment to encourage student success.
  • Administrative Tasks: Supporting teachers with various administrative tasks, such as marking, data entry, and maintaining classroom displays.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology.
  • Strong understanding of psychological principles and their application in an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting student well-being.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents.
  • Previous experience in a teaching or tutoring role is advantageous but not essential.
