Position: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Secondary School in Tameside
Start Date: January 2025

An inclusive secondary school in Tameside is searching for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team, starting in January 2025. This role is designed to provide targeted support for students with special educational needs (SEN) or those who require additional assistance in accessing the curriculum. As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment, helping students achieve their best.

Responsibilities:

  • In-Class Support: Work alongside teachers in the classroom to support students with their academic tasks, providing guidance, encouragement, and any additional help they may need.
  • One-on-One and Group Interventions: Lead small group sessions or individual support for students who benefit from extra focus in specific areas, such as literacy or numeracy.
  • Adapt Resources: Modify learning materials to suit the diverse needs of students, ensuring they are accessible and engaging.
  • Encourage Positive Behaviour: Reinforce the school’s behaviour policy and support students in developing social skills, confidence, and resilience.
  • Collaborate with SENCO and Teaching Staff: Work closely with the SEN Coordinator and teaching team to develop tailored support plans and monitor student progress.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have experience in an educational setting or in supporting young people, particularly those with SEN. Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to adapt and respond to individual student needs. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
