What you'll do

Providing contractual and bid support as a subject matter expert to the UK legal team, including negotiations on contractual terms with customers and suppliers. Advising on data transfers including advising on, drafting and negotiating data processing agreements and model clauses. Monitoring regulatory/legislative developments. Drafting and updating company policies, processes and precedents as required.  Drafting risk papers, reporting risks and issues to senior management as required and appropriately recording risks. Advising on the implementation of privacy baseline requirements into new products and services, with a focus on privacy risk. Identifying mitigations and assisting with the privacy risk management process across a diverse range of matters.  Assisting with the continued implementation of Vodafone’s GDPR compliance programme into business as usual processes. Identifying and advising on data processing activities to ensure risks are managed and they are subject to suitable controls. Be a trusted advisor and enabler for supporting business objectives against the privacy regulatory landscape. Innovating new approaches and ways of advising on business projects which maintain high levels of GDPR compliance whilst enabling the business to meet objectives.

Who you are

Excellent level of general legal knowledge. Experience in contract negotiation and commercial advice preferred. Expertise and experience in telecoms regulatory/data protection and privacy issues not essential, but must demonstrate an interest and willingness to learn. Excellent communication skills with ability to persuade at highest levels of the organisation. Able to deliver concise and clear advice and training according to the audience. Ability to build and maintain excellent network of client contacts across the business, other relevant industry groups, relevant professional external contacts.  High quality drafting skills with the ability to convey complex arguments in a clear and effective manner to business stakeholders. Experience in providing clear advice and direction when faced with competing demands and short deadlines. Ability to work with other members of the legal team to develop ideas and arguments internally. Self-sufficient and able to prioritise effectively and manage own time.  Excellent ability to identify opportunities to improve processes and knowledge to streamline advice, and willingness to lead improvement projects and knowledge sharing across the team and wider business. Solicitor, barrister or legal executive practising in either private practice or in an in-house role. Desirable technical / professional quals: CIPP/e
