NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. The shift pattern for this position is Monday-Friday.
The Community Respiratory Team is a dynamic and responsive multidisciplinary team (MDT) that aims to support patients with moderate to severe COPD within Glasgow City in their own homes. The team is comprised of Physiotherapists, Nurses, OT, Pharmacist, Dietitian, Rehabilitation Support Worker, Business Support and Leadership roles.
It is an evidence based service with the MDT supporting three distinct intervention pathways:
• Prevention of hospital admission (support for acute exacerbation)
• Early supported discharge
• Chronic disease management (rehabilitation and self-management)
The post holder will work as a specialist respiratory physiotherapist working within the oncall team. In addition they will support the physiotherapist with supervision and TURAS.
The post holder will act independently and use their own initiative within the bounds of existing knowledge and skills. They will work autonomously within their scope of practice to make clinical judgements regarding patient prioritisation and management. Work is triaged and allocating depending on clinical patients need and the post holder will lead regularly in triage decisions, referral allocation and will coordinate Consultant lead MDTs and safety huddles. As a senior and advanced specialist team member, the post holder will deputise for the team lead on a regular basis.
You will link with the Respiratory Early Supported Discharge (ESD) team, and hospital based respiratory assessment services/respiratory nurse specialists.
You should have a degree in Physiotherapy and have current HCPC registration and extended experience working with COPD or respiratory patients.
The shift pattern for this post is 37 hours over Monday - Friday 8.30am -4.30pm. This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland's PVG.
