The Divisional Director of Nursing is a key senior nurse within the Trust, professionally accountable to the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to be responsible for the development and delivery of clinical and professional standards and ensuring the development of leadership competence and capacity within nursing. The post holder may hold delegated responsibility for areas of practice from the Deputy/Chief Nursing Officer and will have the opportunity to participate in system work across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG).

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an experienced and credible nursing leader with the ability to motivate and inspire staff to deliver the highest possible clinical and professional standards. You will be a clinical role model and will be passionate about improvement and patient-centred care. You will have a track record of empowering and motivating staff and multidisciplinary teams and working across organisational boundaries to deliver high-quality care, service innovation and improved clinical pathways.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Divisional Director of Nursing is professionally accountable to the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer for professional conduct of nurses/AHP’s and for the development of nursing services within the Division and is managerially accountable to the Divisional Clinical Director.

The post holder is accountable for the direct delivery of nursing services within the Division and will provide the vision and support to the CD and DOD in ensuring the development of nursing services to meet the current and future requirements within the Division.

The post holder is also responsible for contributing effectively to the implementation of the Professional Nursing and Midwifery agenda and is responsible for ensuring that the required nursing/clinical outcomes for quality patient care are met. The post holder is responsible for ensuring that services maintain clinical excellence.

The successful applicant(s) will normally commence at the minimum of the scale unless they have previous NHS service at the same band. Progression through the scale is by annual increments.
