Candidates are invited to apply for a clinical fellowship in Neuromuscular Diseases for one year based in the Muscle team at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square.

The Fellowship will combine clinical and research training in Muscle and Mitochondrial disorders. This will include training and experience in muscle and mitochondrial disorders clinical management, a research project and involvement in Neuromuscular Disorders clinical trials.

The post holder will be expected to develop specialised skills and knowledge relating to the conduct of clinical trials, the therapies and relevant disease types.

Main duties of the job

The centre is the only one of its kind in the UK and provides holistic, multi-disciplinary care including neurology, respiratory, cardiac, gastro and a wide range of therapy services. The Centre for Neuromuscular Disease (CNMD) at Queen Square is the largest adult neuromuscular service in the UK and sees patients from a wide geographic area.

This post will provide a unique opportunity to acquire experience in managing a wide range of rare neuromuscular disorders. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of neuromuscular clinical trials and contribution to inpatient and outpatient clinical service provision alongside developing their own research knowledge and skill set.

The post would be most suitable for a senior trainee for out of programme fellowship or post CCST individuals wishing to obtain further experience and training in neuromuscular disease although we will consider any level of experience. Appropriate support and supervision will be in place.
