Are you passionate about supporting young people to develop essential life skills and reach their goals? Do you want to play a pivotal role in preparing young people for adulthood?

Long-Term Teachers are recruiting a dedicated and learning support assistant to work with post-16 students who have educational health and care plans (EHCPs). This rewarding role offers the chance to make a real difference by helping young people achieve greater independence and build brighter futures.

For this particular role, you will be supporting two students throughout the week. One student you will support for 3 days and the other for 2 days. You will focus on supporting their appetite for learning and work preparation, visit local sites and provisions and most importantly, provide social and emotional support. One of the students needs a lot of confidence building and encouraging them to get out of the house.

About the role:

As a learning support assistant, you’ll work closely with students in diverse community settings, including learning hubs, libraries, workplaces and leisure facilities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students to develop practical life skills tailored to their individual needs
  • Delivering accredited learning based on a personalised curriculum
  • Assessing student progress and celebrating their achievements
  • Travelling alongside students to various community-based locations, ensuring their learning takes place in meaningful, real-world environments

The ideal candidate:

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • A passion for working with young people and supporting their development
  • Previous experience working with young people in the UK is essential
  • Experience working with special educational needs would be advantageous
  • Flexibility to travel between community locations
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Confident in working with and taking students off-site to a range of settings
  • Able to drive and have access to your own car (you will need to get business insurance for this role)

You will be working Monday to Friday, 9am - 4:30pm, term time only, although working hours may be slightly less on some days due to the students’ bespoke timetable.

If you’re ready to embark on a fulfilling career helping young people develop confidence, independence and essential life skills, we want to hear from you
