Learning Support Assistant for Special Educational Needs

Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to provide essential support for students with diverse special educational needs in West Devon. This role offers flexibility and variety, with opportunities to make a real difference in the lives of young learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead small group or one-to-one sessions, supporting students' academic, social and personal development
- Deliver tailored intervention programs, in coordination with teachers, to address each student's unique learning goals
- Implement effective strategies to support students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, SEMH challenges, and profound learning difficulties
- Assist in classroom management, resource preparation and adapting lesson plans to foster an inclusive environment
- Independently lead classes in the teacher's absence, ensuring continuity of learning and student engagement
About You
- Qualified and experienced in SEN support, ideally with a HLTA certification or equivalent experience
- Compassionate, patient and skilled in adapting to diverse student needs
- Familiar with behaviour management strategies and creating structured, supportive learning environments
- Observant and detail-oriented, with a focus on identifying and encouraging students' progress
- Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to work across multiple schools as needed
