Job summary

Following new investment we are enhancing our offer for children and young people through development of a high quality specialist therapeutic service to children and young people (CYP) who have experienced significant trauma and are presenting with moderate to severe mental health difficulties.

We are recruiting into a number of Band 8a posts across BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) with various hours available in Keynsham, Marlborough, Melksham, Salisbury and Swindon.

We are looking for multi-disciplinary professionals from the following backgrounds ; Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Clinical Psychologist, Family and Systemic Therapist and Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist; whowill be able to work with children, young people and families/carers from a wide range of social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds

You will understand how equality and diversity issues may intersect in different ways with our models of engagement, assessment, treatment and be able to work sensitively to try to overcome potential barriers this may present.

Our Child and Adolescent Mental Health teams work together to provide support, treatment, advice and signposting to children, young people and their families/carers, including the facilitation of short term interventions up to long term interventions and crisis care.

Main duties of the job

You will provide specialist assessments of children and young people with complex trauma and moderate to severe mental health needs, employing research-based models to formulate and implement plans with individuals, families and carers. This role will work within a multi-disciplinary team alongside a range of professionals such as Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Systemic and Family Therapists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers and Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists.

You will work autonomously in ways which are sensitive to the needs of CYP and families from a wide range of racial, cultural and religious backgrounds.

This role requires you being able to demonstrate evidence of an anti-oppressive approach at the heart of your practice and to challenge, when needed, oppressive and/ or discriminatory issues that are relevant to the children, young people and families we work with, as well as within the system, or that impact on colleagues.

Job responsibilities

This role will:

Provide clinical, evidence based care and treatment, according to expertise. Offer direct clinical work and alongside this consultation and supervision to support the work of other staff. Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures. Utilise research skills for audit, and contribute to research and training within the areas served by the teams and service. Be involved in service developments. Work closely with the other Specialist Trauma Therapists and In-reach Clinical Specialists across BSW to achieve timely access to appropriate consultation and intervention for this group of CYP.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered RMN, OT, Social Worker or Psychological Therapist Advanced clinical skills/therapeutic skills in trauma, acute mental health presentations and risk management Specialist training and experience of delivering an evidence based or evidence informed trauma intervention VIG, EMDR, Psychotherapy, Family Therapy, TF-CBT, NET, MBT, Specialist Sensory Training etc Continuing registration with body overseeing practice of core mental health profession, NMC, SWE, HCPC, etc
