Job summary

ESTH provides a range of therapy and rehabilitation services within Hospital. These work closely together and collaborate with other agencies to provide a smooth pathway to mainly Sutton and Merton residents with rehabilitation needs.

This post is an eight-monthly rotation scheme, currently within the following areas, but subject to change with new opportunities and developments:-

Respiratory physiotherapy, within critical care and surgery, or within respiratory and medical wards; medical and surgical rehabilitation including complex cases and amputees; elder rehabilitation; trauma orthopaedics; medical/ COTE including HDU, located at EGH, neuro-rehabilitation within the stroke unit , located at EGH; Early Rehabilitation Team / working with Sutton Health and Care, including the prevention of avoidable admissions.

Acute Therapies are working towards seven days, and the post holder will be required to contribute to weekend rotas and on-call work within St. Helier hospital.

This role is cross site.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our band 6 acute physiotherapy rotation at Epsom and St Helier Hospital. The successful candidate will rotate across a variety of clinical areas including respiratory, medical and surgical rehabilitation including renal and amputees, stroke (located at Epsom Hospital), trauma orthopaedics, rapid response and elder rehabilitation.

This is an exciting opportunity to further develop your clinical skills in a variety of specialties, within a friendly and supportive team. The successful applicant will have ideally completed core rotations in a band 5 position.

CPD is actively encouraged both within service provision and with externally funded courses. Staff within each team are supervised by senior physiotherapy clinicians supporting staff to achieve learning outcomes within the specialty. There are in-service training within teams and a joint therapy seminar in which you will participate. Service development is actively encouraged and also peer support through regular team meetings. There is a requirement for all acute physiotherapy staff to participate in the respiratory on call evening and weekend rotas. Staff will also contribute to 7 day working, currently on a 1 in 5 weekend rota basis, but can be more as required.
