Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for conscientious, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Urology Cancer Pathway Navigator to join the Urology department at St Albans City Hospital.

The post holder will work closely with the Urology consultants, Urology management team, Urology Surgical care practitioner, Urology secretarial team, nurses, their immediate colleagues, and other administrative and clinical members of the trust.

This post is hours per week (Monday - Friday).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Urology clinical and administrative team with the smooth running of the prostate cancer service. This will include utilising prostate biopsy clinics, Booking of MRI's and monitoring utilisation of all other outpatient activity.

It will also include contacting with patients to confirm appointments and management of admin duties such as letters, prepping for the image review meeting.

The post holder will be responsible for the tracking of all patients on the prostate cancer pathway so will be required to have great IT skills.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To track and navigate patients through the urology cancer pathways. To provide a comprehensive and efficient administrative service to the clinical team members of the urology cancer pathways.

The post will work closely with the clinical triage teams for the urology cancer pathways, key stakeholders from other services and liaison with other hospitals.

They will help identify capacity issues, and escalate these in a timely manner, and respond to patient enquiries. This job will involve cross site working.

Person Specification

Education and qualifications:

Essential

Educated to A level or BTEC / GNVQ level - or relevant job experience. Experience as an NHS Administrator. Good IT literacy.

Knowledge:

Essential

Working knowledge of hospital, computer systems (Patient Centre, Infoflex). CRIS -Knowledge of urology cancer pathways. Knowledge of NHS Cancer Waiting Times.

Experience:

Essential

Previous NHS administration. Working in/or with cancer MDT team(s). Proven experience of working to deadlines and target. Experience of communicating complex instructions with sensitivity to patients and relatives.

Desirable

Working in a changing environment.
