Responsibilities of a Physical Education Higher Level Teaching Assistant :

  • Support the PE teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive PE lessons.
  • Lead small groups in physical activities, promoting teamwork and confidence.
  • Assist with the planning and preparation of sports events and extracurricular activities.
  • Encourage students to develop their fitness, skills, and sportsmanship.
  • Work closely with staff to support students’ physical and emotional well-being.
  • Provide tailored support to students with additional needs in PE sessions.

Requirements for a Physical Education Higher Level Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or working in an educational setting.
  • A passion for physical education and promoting active lifestyles.
  • Ability to lead groups and manage behaviour in a positive manner.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in sports coaching or education.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
