Working on the Pier 6 Western Extension at Gatwick Airport means you will be part of a significant infrastructure enhancement aimed at improving passenger experience and operational efficiency. This project involves extending the existing Pier 6 to increase the number of pier-served aircraft stands to accommodate forecast growth. Following the completion of the Pier 6 Western Extension there is an impressive portfolio of projects within the Major Projects Programme to be a part of.

As a Senior Field Engineer, you will work closely with the Project Management team to supervise multi-disciplined construction projects. Your experience in a similar role, on £multi-million projects with a focus always on health and safety, will ensure you can successfully support across all phases of the project from planning and execution to completion and handover.

What's the role?

Reporting to the Programme Construction Manager, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of complex projects across London Gatwick. Working closely with stakeholders, internal teams and contractors to ensure the successful completion of projects by being involved in the end-to-end process.

Other duties include:

Taking the lead in managing any construction management resources assigned to you, helping to develop their skills, maintain quality standards and provide guidance and support. Delivering regular site safety engagement on responsible projects, to ensure an emphasis on and compliance with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards and promoting a positive HSE culture Reviewing contractor CDM, quality and commissioning submittals for quality and compliance Inspecting work to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications Assisting the Project Manager with the review and processing of contractual correspondence Solving construction challenges Coordinating with electrical and mechanical engineering colleagues to ensure all works are installed to plan Tracking progress against programme and facilitating contractors' works by negotiating access and processing of relevant permits.

What are we looking for?

The live environment at London Gatwick requires all our teams to have a flexible and adaptable approach, with problem solving skills and an innovative outlook. Involved in projects from inception to completion you will work alongside multiple stakeholders such as Airfield Operations, Passenger Operations & Security. In addition, this role requires:

Experience as a Field Engineer, Section Engineer or Sub Agent Aviation experience is highly desirable as is exposure to larger complex civils and infrastructure projects which have multiple competing stakeholders and elements of possession working. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Experience leading small teams Familiarity with handover and closeout of projects Previous experience in addressing HSE issues associated with construction Understanding and knowledge of quality management
