Job summary

Are you passionate about supporting, training and developing the new and existing Occupational Therapy workforce in North Cumbria?

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist with expert clinical knowledge and experience to deliver high quality training, education and clinical support within a diverse and clinically-led organisation spanning Acute and Community services.

You will be pivotal in the progress of a range of occupational therapy staff including preceptees, support workers, apprentices and development roles as well as being an expert point of contact on all matters related to career pathways for occupational therapy staff.

You will be part of a growing AHP educator team and this role will be led by the Head of Occupational Therapy. You will be supported with dedicated supervision and encouraged to develop your skills and knowledge across the Four Pillars of Practice.

The post requires someone who is motivated, well-organised and has excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire others.

Main duties of the job

lead on guidance and support of pre-reg, postgraduate, apprentices, preceptees, international recruits and return to practice OTs across the whole NCIC OT network.

be clinically competent to support clinical development.

provide pastoral support for overseas recruits during recruitment, appointment, induction, and preceptorship periods.

work alongside OT Leads to ensure newly appointed or promoted staff are integrated smoothly into the workforce and new roles including standardising competencies for development roles.

support the development and postgraduate study towards extended scope and Advanced Practice.

create Communities of Practice across the system for support staff to guide career development opportunities.

lead on the development of appropriate learning environments, training and internal progression periods, to drive the integration of theory and continued competency with practice including the assessment and provision of equipment.

work collaboratively with other Educators and attend Educator Forums, working in partnership with stakeholders to ensure the development of inter-professional learning opportunities.

link with the AHP Faculty and council, maximising relevant opportunities relevant.

contribute to developing policies, guidelines and scope of practice.

stay current with national initiatives supporting the education and development of the OT profession.
