The shift pattern for this position is Mon - Fri.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacist to participate in a split role between Primary Care Pharmacy and the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.This exciting role will involve working primary and secondary care multidisciplinary teams to improve medicines management and deliver excellent patient care. This role will involve delivery of the pharmacotherapy service as part of the GP contract and will provide an important function in supporting patients with their medicines. This patient facing role will involve taking on a prescribing role and developing your own clinical caseload in line with Achieving Excellence strategy objectives. Applicants should be qualified independent prescribers or be prepared to work towards this qualification

Your role will be to work as a member of the NHS GGC pharmacy team. The objectives of the team are to improve the quality and cost effectiveness of prescribing and medicines use for patients across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. You will work closely with GPs, other practice staff, community pharmacists, care home staff, members of the primary and secondary care healthcare team and central team colleagues in supporting the development and application of high quality, safe, cost effective, rational and evidence based prescribing. You will work within GP practices, acute hospital, care homes and other healthcare settings to provide individualised clinical care to patients, through clinics, to improve the safety and effectiveness of their medicines, prescribing where appropriate. You should have a sound clinical knowledge, good IT skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and be able to demonstrate a commitment to Continuing Professional Development. You must have significant post registration experience. You will be required to travel between GP practices and care homes to carry out the duties of this post. Experience of directly working with primary care teams and knowledge of GP systems would be advantageous. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.

Minimum requirements

Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent

Registrant with the General Pharmaceutical Council

Independent prescriber or working towards

Minimum of 2 years’ post-registration experience
