NHS Scotland is seeking a highly skilled and motivated pharmacist to join our team as a Specialist Pharmacist. This exciting opportunity will involve working in a split role between Primary Care Pharmacy and the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with primary and secondary care multidisciplinary teams to improve medicines management and deliver excellent patient care.
  • Deliver the pharmacotherapy service as part of the GP contract and provide an important function in supporting patients with their medicines.
  • Take on a prescribing role and develop your own clinical caseload in line with Achieving Excellence strategy objectives.
  • Work closely with GPs, other practice staff, community pharmacists, care home staff, and members of the primary and secondary care healthcare team to support the development and application of high-quality, safe, cost-effective, rational, and evidence-based prescribing.
  • Provide individualized clinical care to patients through clinics to improve the safety and effectiveness of their medicines, prescribing where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
  • Significant post-registration experience.
  • Ability to travel between GP practices and care homes to carry out the duties of this post.
  • Experience of directly working with primary care teams and knowledge of GP systems would be advantageous.
