Job Title: Specialist Pharmacist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Specialist Pharmacist to join our team at NHS Scotland. As a Specialist Pharmacist, you will play a key role in improving the quality and cost-effectiveness of prescribing and medicines use for patients across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with GPs, other practice staff, community pharmacists, care home staff, and members of the primary and secondary care healthcare team to support the development and application of high-quality, safe, cost-effective, rational, and evidence-based prescribing.
  • Provide individualised clinical care to patients through clinics, improving the safety and effectiveness of their medicines, and prescribing where appropriate.
  • Work within GP practices, acute hospitals, care homes, and other healthcare settings to deliver excellent patient care and improve medicines management.
  • Develop and maintain a sound clinical knowledge, good IT skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and demonstrate a commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
  • Have significant post-registration experience and be able to travel between GP practices and care homes to carry out the duties of this post.

Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Registrant with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Independent prescriber or working towards.
  • Minimum of 2 years' post-registration experience.
