Norwich, United Kingdom Norwich University of the Arts Full time

Norwich University of the Arts is committed to being an inclusive community that offers equality of opportunity and enables our staff and students to flourish and succeed, regardless of their background or personal circumstances.

Our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion is embedded in everything that we do. We celebrate the diversity of our backgrounds, cultures and actions, promoting art and design as a catalyst of social change. As such, we are champions for the creative arts; empowering all of our students to be valued and productive members of society, with ambitions to change the world.

Norwich University of the Arts is one of the great British art schools: a specialist creative arts and technology university that draws on 175 years of history, with our focus on the future and the role of creativity in addressing global challenges and opportunities. We celebrate diversity and believe it to be at the core of any creative endeavour. We want students and staff to bring their whole self to work each day, in an environment that recognises the contribution their unique identity and prior experiences make to our community.

Following a review of our postgraduate taught provision, we are seeking to appoint to the new role of Postgraduate Taught (PGT) Coordinator. The appointee will work closely with the Designated Manager and Academic Programme Directors to support PGT provision at Norwich and work towards delivery of an ambitious and creative curriculum that is flexible in delivery and balances discipline specificity with collaborative study. The role involves coordination of Level 7 provision together with development, leadership and delivery of multi-disciplinary core and elective units.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the nature and challenges of postgraduate study and the requirements of an excellent student experience. You will have a background in creative arts and a developing profile as a practitioner, researcher and/or industry professional, together with experience of teaching at postgraduate level. You will have academic experience of leading modules, units or year groups, ideally at PGT level. A breadth of understanding of the creative disciplines beyond your own is essential, together with an enthusiasm for collaborative and interdisciplinary working. Experience of teaching across disciplines and/or developing and delivering collaborative student projects is advantageous.

The successful applicant will be an excellent teacher who puts inclusivity at the heart of their practice. You will be an advocate for postgraduate study, promoting the courses to prospective students and teachers, both at home and internationally. You will have the ability to work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, bringing diverse voices into our student experience and ensuring the support we give our students is culturally competent. You will have the ambition to equip students with the social and cultural capital that will allow them to confidently grasp postgraduate-level opportunities and challenges.

The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent skills in organisation, management, team building and evidence of enhancing student educational experience and outcomes. A collaborative and collegiate approach to leadership and teamworking is an essential attribute for this role, which will require working closely with colleagues from other courses and departments.

Please note: Fraction negotiable up to full-time for a candidate with skills and experience aligned to an area of growth in our portfolio.
