We have an exciting opportunity for you to become a Mental Health Practitioner within our CQC rated Outstanding CAMHS East Team

The CAMHS East Team is a multi-disciplinary team comprising of professionals from various disciplines. The team support children and young people under 18 presenting with a broad range of complex difficulties including anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, trauma and those presenting with associated risk.

The team have a positive and supportive culture and a strong ethos of working together with a shared passion and operates 9-5, Monday to Friday. There are opportunities for close working relationships with other CAMHS Teams within Somerset including Forensic CAMHS, Community Eating Disorder Service and the Enhanced Outreach Team. You will receive clinical and managerial supervision in addition to accessing structured learning and development opportunities including the potential for training in specialist therapies. We also prioritise taking care of our employees

We have annual team away days, compassion circles, access to Employee Assistance Programme including counselling if required.

Main duties of the job

Due to investment and expansion of our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) we are seeking to recruit a Mental Health Practitioner (Band 5)/Senior Mental Health Practitioner (Band 6) for our CAMHS Community Team in the East of Somerset. This is an exciting time to join our CAMH Service, as we develop our community and urgent care offer to children and young people in Somerset.

We are looking for individuals who are keen to work with children and young people struggling with their mental health in the community. We have positions available for qualified mental health nurses, social workers, Psychologists and occupational therapists.

We welcome applications from newly qualified members of staff who we can support via a progression route within the service including ASYE and Preceptorship programmes in addition to therapeutic training

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Recognised professional qualification at degree or equivalent level in Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social work Registration with the appropriate professional body Knowledge of a wide range of evidence-based treatment/therapeutic interventions. Knowledge and experience of risk assessment and risk management planning with high-risk young people.

Desirable

Evidence of continuous post-qualifying professional development. Post-qualifying training in therapeutic interventions Have a Recognised qualification in assessing autism Knowledge and understanding of mental health disorders and Neurodevelopmental disorders in children and young people, and their impact on both the client group and their families/carers. Knowledge and understanding of RCPA (previously ICPA)

Experience

Essential

Experience of multi-agency working. Experience and understanding of Safeguarding Children and other relevant legislation and policies

Desirable

Experience of working with children and young people.

ANALYTICAL & JUDGEMENT SKILLS Evidence of the ability to asses in supervising colleagues, and guiding the administrative support dedicated to this post, and to work harmoniously with colleagues, clients and referrers under pressure in a multi-disciplinary team setting. Able to work effectively under pressure. Excellent assessment skills with this client group, including risk assessment and management. PLANNING & ORGANISING SKILLS Excellent organisational skills, ability to manage own time and plan timed activities, including building in travel time to and between appointments. Good level of computer literacy Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the patients. PHYSICAL SKILLS Required to use appropriate level of Personal Safety techniques to deal with challenging clients or incidents Physical dexterity required for basic keyboard skills OTHER Must be a car driver with a valid driving licence or have access to transport with appropriate business insurance in order to travel throughout the Trust, to meet the needs of the service.
