Poole, United Kingdom Lush Full time
DescriptionRole Duration: 12 months fixed term contract

Diversity matters We are building a brand that represents the people of the world. It’s what you do that counts, and we are always looking to expand perspectives and voices to shape our future.
We see you, we celebrate you, we want you
Who we are
You might know us as the inventors of the bath bomb, but there’s more to this great-smelling, partly employee-owned, family-run company than pioneering cosmetics. We believe our business should put more back into the world than it takes and demonstrate that capitalism can be a force for good.

The Living Wage Foundation’s statement 'a hard day's work deserves a fair day's pay' is one that we are proud to commit to in the UK. As an accredited Living Wage employer, we put our people first and fight cruel practices like animal testing, promote regeneration, and show that it is what’s inside that counts - whether that’s an ingredient in a product, or the minerals in a smartphone.

The Team

We’re a small but perfectly formed team who provide legal support to all areas of the global business that includes corporate, commercial, media, tech, IP licensing, litigation, finance, and compliance on an international scale.
We’re seeking a dynamic professional to provide top-notch commercial and employment law support across our global operations. As the go-to advisor for our people team, you'll handle everything from drafting robust contracts to managing complex tribunal cases. Bring your advisory prowess, negotiation skills, and project management expertise to help us stay compliant and ahead of the curve. If you’re ready to make a significant impact in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you.
In return we can offer a stimulating job where no two days are the same
Hybrid working is available for this position with the expectation of flexibility to attend the office, typically around 3 times per week.

Please note: We may close this vacancy early if we receive an overwhelming response or our business requirements change.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day to day support and guidance to the Group on all aspects of commercial and employment law across multiple jurisdictions (sourcing external counsel where necessary).
  • Work as a subject matter expert on UK employment matters, acting as a point of contact across the business (particularly for our people / HR team).
  • Provide advice to our people / HR team on all aspects of HR, including grievances, disciplinaries, investigations, settlements, employment tribunal litigation, redundancy, and whistleblowing.
  • Draft, review and negotiate employment and consultancy contracts, ensuring that they are legally robust and compliant with the latest legislation.
  • Draft, review and negotiate settlement agreements, outlining potential options and assessing any risks.
  • Advise on and assist with drafting HR policies and procedures.
  • Produce know-how, guidance documents and templates for the team on key areas of employment law.
  • Stay up to date on international legislation which may affect the group across multiple jurisdictions. In this regard, experience working with EU legislation and Directives is desirable.
  • Assist with a variety of employment-related projects across the business. Able to develop a legal roadmap of what is required to ensure that the project is successful to completion.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Ideally, a qualified lawyer with at least 1+ years post qualification experience in employment law, OR equivalent experience relevant to the role.
  • Able to work independently, prioritise and manage large complex workloads to tight deadlines and be a team player.
  • Strong advisory skills for providing day-to-day guidance on legal matters.
  • Proficiency in offering strategic advice to HR teams on employment issues.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Understanding of commercial law principles.
  • Familiarity with EU legislation and Directives.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Support groups, film nights, yoga, meditation sessions and much more

Since establishing in 1995 in Poole, Dorset, Lush has been driven by innovation and its ethics.
Creators of pioneering beauty products such as the fizzing bath bomb, shower jellies and solid shampoo bars, we place emphasis on fresh ingredients like organic fruits and vegetables, fight against animal testing and combat over-packaging by developing products that can be sold ‘naked’ to the customer without any packaging.

We currently operate in 52 countries with 928 global shops. Through our separate business divisions we invent, manufacture and sell our handmade products direct to our customers through our own shops and online. The fact that we make all our products by hand is something we are really rather proud of

Lush is 10% Employee Owned since 2017 and our people are the heart and soul of our business.

In the UK we currently have offices located in Poole, Dorset and Soho, London.
