Are you an experienced, Senior Underwriter looking for a new opportunity? Pen Underwriting Risk Managed Commercial team are seeking a talented individual to join our team and help us expand our presence in North Ireland. In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting and servicing both new and existing accounts. Your expertise and industry knowledge will be crucial in evaluating new business opportunities and making sound judgments. By doing so, you will not only contribute to our income and profit but also help us achieve our EBITDAC goals. How you'll make an impact In this role, you will have the opportunity to maintain and grow a renewal portfolio, handling rating and adjustment enquiries from your allocated client portfolio. Additionally, you will have the potential to develop your client portfolio through new business opportunities, expanding your reach and impact. As a Senior Underwriter, you will also be responsible for handling technical claim cover requests and liaising with brokers, insurers, Accounts, and Claims functions. Your strong attention to detail will be crucial in signing off referrals from Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters, ensuring accuracy and quality in our processes. You will also have the chance to provide technical training and development to more junior members of the team, sharing your expertise and helping them grow in their roles. Additionally, you will compile and provide statistics, interpreting the data and explaining it to others, contributing to our overall understanding and decision-making. About You CII/Dip CII qualification, educated to A-Level standard or equivalent A firm grasp of risk exposure, with the ability to determine acceptance criteria and risk classifications in complex or unfamiliar situations Underwriting experience in servicing accounts, utilizing specialist technical knowledge to handle claim queries and provide a connected service The ability to extract and piece together required learning from various opportunities and sources Experience in planning and prioritizing client renewals and seeking new business opportunities Strong, proactive communication and social skills with clients and colleagues A good level of numeracy and literacy, coupled with excellent attention to detail An analytical problem-solving approach with initiative and a 'can do' attitude An insightful, ambitious, and willing teammate who takes ownership and accountability, and is keen to share expertise Strong trading and negotiation skills, ensuring excellent outcomes for customers, brokers, Pen, and insurers Eligibility to work in the UK Compensation and benefits On top of a competitive salary, great teams and exciting career opportunities, we also offer a wide range of benefits.
