Job summary
The Childrens Community Nursing Team, based at The Moor Lane Centre, Chessington, deliversspecialist nursing care to children and young people with SEND in Dysart and Bedelsford specialschools, at home and within community services. The nursing team forms part of the IntegratedService for Children with Disabilities (ISCD), working across health, education and social care.
Main duties of the job
We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic, proactive nurses to work flexibly across thecommunity and in our special schools delivering holistic, family centered care for children and young people with complex health needs and disabilities. This is a dynamic role encompassing:
Assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of clinical nursing care. Delivery of specialist nursing care, including but not limited to: administration of medication,suctioning, tracheostomy care, gastrostomy management and enteral feeding, seizuremanagement. Holistic family support for children/ young people and their families, including signposting tospecialist services. Delivery of specialist training for families and care support staff. Attendance at multi- professional meetings, including child protection case conferences. Providing health advice for education, health and care plans. Nursing sleep service- supporting children with sleep difficulties, reviewing sleep medication and offering support and strategies to parents. Mentoring, supporting and supervising junior staff and student nurses.You will be given the opportunity to develop a range of skills and knowledge within a diverse setting.

The post holder will provide comprehensive support for children/ young people and their families,including signposting to specialist services. They will deliver specialist training for families and caresupport staff, attend multi- professional meetings, including child protection case conferences. They willalso provide health advice for education, health and care plans, nursing sleep service- supportingchildren with sleep difficulties, reviewing sleep medication and offering support and strategies toparents. The post holder will be mentoring, supporting and supervising junior staff and student nurses.

Qualifications
Essential
Registered Childrens Nurse (RN Child/RSCN). RGN will be considered with relevant experience. Evidence of continuous professional development. Skills and experience

Minimum 2 years post qualification experience in nursing. Community /special school nursing experience. Experience working with children and young people with disabilities / complex health needs. Experience supporting staff and students and providing supervision. Experience working with challenging families and ability to manage conflict. Safeguarding knowledge and experience. Ability to work well as part of a team. Experience of building strong partnerships, maintaining relationships and co-producing solutions to challenges across a diverse set of stakeholders, including children, young people and their families. Advocating the voices of those we are working with. Experience of keeping and maintaining records (in accordance with local policy) and producing accurate reports, presentations and written updates to a range of stakeholders (which may include families, children or young people). Knowledge of statutory legislation (for example Childrens Act) and national policy drivers that will affect childrens services and your role. Experience of addressing specific equality or diversity issues within your practice with colleagues/service users and taking action to solve them.
