Company Overview:
Qioptiq manufacture radiation stable micro-sheet cover glass for the space industry. With a dedicated glass melter housed in our facilities in the United Kingdom, we offer a fully integrated manufacturing capability. Furthermore, our advanced research and development continue to keep us on the leading edge of space technology. We have been supporting space technology through this facility since 1970 and offer a unique range of cerium-doped glass components, solar cell cover glass and optical solar reflectors which have been utilized on over 3000 satellites.

Job Outline:

To provide support and direction in the control of processes and quality management, in accordance with both the departmental operating procedures and company Quality Manual. To proactively influence the product design and ensure robust Quality Planning and Control activities are implemented during productionisation and on-going manufacture.

The main duties will include:

Ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with company operating procedures.Providing guidance in the development of procedures to accommodate a changing environment.Supporting Operations in achieving an environment of continuous improvement through identifying best practice and championing changes working closely with Process Engineers.Leading Quality Root Cause and Corrective actions through Quality methods such as 8D, A3Providing a supporting role for the completion of Fast responses using Fishbone, 3 legged 5 Why.Managing department MRB process and reporting of key issues, late MRB ticketsManagement of the Nonconformities related to the responsible area and providing support and guidance to employees on effective corrective actionsProducing Right First Time data. Publishing results and utilising them to direct efforts/focus.Liaising with all areas of the business, at all levels, together with suppliers and customers in resolving product quality related issuesConducting layered process audits and where applicable AS9100D internal audits in order to demonstrate compliance with procedures, processes and other requirementsAttending the various business/product reviews to ensure the business is addressing all aspects of the requirement to the satisfaction of the customerBuilding effective working relationships internally and externallyVerification processes to AS9102 (FAI) AS9145 (PPAP) or similarRisk mitigation and analysis (FMEA – PFMEA/DFMEA)

Personal Specification:

It is essential that all candidates have the following:

A high standard of formal education (preferably to HNC level or equivalent)Knowledge of AS9100 quality requirementsA time served background in an engineering disciplineAn understanding of metrology (optical/mechanical), and problem solving tools / techniques.Fully competent in the use of PC’s (Microsoft Office Applications) as detailed technical report generation will be required.Excellent communication skills, a methodical approach to working, and proven attention to detail.Proven ability to work under pressure to achieve demanding objectives.

The following attributes are considered desirable, but not essential for the role:

An extensive knowledge of Qioptiq products and processes, together with an understanding of the Qioptiq Management SystemFamiliarity with auditing techniques, although training will be given if required.Quality Assurance experience within a precision manufacturing environment
