Job summary

To perform as an OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST in the POST COVID ASSESSMENT SERVICE with a keen interest in MENTAL HEALTH , performing assessments, supporting patients with management of Post-COVID syndrome using local and National guidance across Norfolk and Waveney.

FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT UNTIL

PART TIME- 30 HOURS PER WEEK

HYBRID WORKING

Working as a resource for patients, their carers and other staff.

Working and liaising with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to provide high quality, evidence-based patient assessment and care.

Supporting the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating of care given to patients with Post-COVID syndrome in the community.

Management of a caseload, using evidence based, client-centred recovery principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

To provide clinical advice on the assessment and intervention of clients' occupational and functional needs as a result of mental health implications to support management of post covid syndrome symptoms.

To utilise RCOT recommended resources and recommendations to inform development of mental health clinical practice

To develop and champion excellent practice

Support the development of the service across Norfolk and Waveney and work collaboratively with the wider MDT teams

Working autonomously within own scope of practice under the guidance of the Team Lead for the Post-COVID Assessment Service.

Main duties of the job

Provide assessment for patients referred into the service in line with agreed guidelines.

To liaise with professionals about the patients under their care.

To accept referrals and manage a patient caseload according to guidelines.

Supporting the improvement of Standards of Care for people with Post-COVID syndrome, in line with the NICE guidance

To work with a caseload of service users with a range of mental health needs to identify goals, using specialist mental health and OT assessment and treatment tools and pathways.

Working with the wider MDT across Norfolk and Waveney

To assist in the provision of training and education for patients, carers and professionals to develop the skills required to manage mental health and wellbeing effectively.

Demonstrate knowledge and skills through CPD in line with local and national guidance.

To maintain own levels of clinical competence.

Working autonomously with support from Band 7 and being accountable for own practice

To promote and facilitate research and evidence-based practice

To maintain a high profile in the clinical area, acting as a role model for other HCP's

To deliver and develop interventions in a group setting primarily online.

Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment for service users with complex needs in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention

To assist the team with the management of Post-COVID syndrome patients mental health and wellbeing as part of a duty role

Contribute to the team formulation of Post-COVID syndrome patients mental health pathways

Ensure effective use of resources, both financial and human.

To support maintenance of appropriate data for local and national reporting.

To maintain records, as required.

To use research findings critically in order to develop practice with supervisions from Clinical lead as required

To provide information about Post-COVID syndrome to people, including its treatment and symptom management.

To provide information, education including offering placement opportunities for students, training to other healthcare professionals about Post-COVID syndrome and its assessment and management

Be a clinical resource and offer guidance and supervision to other team members within a mental health area of practice.

Maintain links with other professionals and networks in order to learn and share examples of good practice.

To be responsible for developing and sustaining own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness and to maintain a professional profile.

To participate in continuing professional development activity and all mandatory training as required.

Accountable for ensuring workload of self and others is prioritised, planned and delivered in line with key performance indicators and service targets.

To deliver patient care across Norfolk and Waveney, face to face in a clinic setting, and via telephone, groups and virtual consultations

Support the development and delivery of additional projects within Post-COVID Assessment Service as required with supervision from Clinical Lead.

Be responsible for recording risks and near misses as per trust policy, report on Datix and to Clinical Lead

Carry out appraisals for other team members where required

Responsible for safety of equipment and supplies where required.

To assist the team to develop risk management processes for vulnerable patients

Working with the supervision of the Clinical Lead to support the newly developing Post-COVID Assessment Service in line with national and regional guidance.

All post holders are required to adhere to the Trusts Behaviour Framework in the undertaking of their duties.

May be required to undertake surveys or audits, as necessary to own work; may occasionally participate in R&D, clinical trials or equipment testing.
