About us:

We're on the lookout for a Head Chef for the Swan in Walton on Thames - situated on the banks of the River Thames in leafy Surrey, The Swan aims to offer the best drinking and dining experience to our wonderful customers. We are the perfect venue for all occasions, offering the biggest beer garden in the area, bookable garden huts with river views, and 2 separate terraces to soak up the sun. Our menus are fresh and seasonal, and are designed and created by the whole kitchen team.

Our new head chef will be working with a newly appointed and very experienced GM to build a strongly supported and high quality pub kitchen team that can deliver true Gastro Pub food that will delight old and new guests. This is the job for someone who wants to take something good, make it better and be proud to have their name on the menu. This is a great opportunity to join a pub that is starting a new chapter in it's life and be part of something special. 

We are prepared to offer a 4 day week option so you can maintain a great work-life-balance, this would start after a couple of months once you have the kitchen running like clockwork.}}

Any applicant will be subject to a cooking and skills demonstration, we are serious aboiut getting the right person for the role.

What we look for in a
Head Chef:



This role
requires someone that can inspire a team, to bring out the potential and lead
by example whilst being able to develop, cost and produce fresh seasonal menus
for the variety of revenue streams within the business.



  • Have experience championing excellent service
    through quality food either as a Head Chef or in the position of Sous Chef
  • Demonstrate a passion for leading and developing
    a team
  • Be an active hands-on team player with
    excellent communication skills
  • Be responsible and able to manage the kitchen
    staff rota, training and all health and safety effectively at all times
  • Be able to demonstrate your creativity and
    ability to design and deliver new dishes for our menus and daily specials
  • Demonstrate great planning and organisational
    skills, necessary to maintain effective controls with regard to both GP and
    labour
  • Have a pro-active approach to driving sales
    and delivering growth, through engagement with both kitchen and front of house
    teams
