Job summary

The Hull University Teaching Hospitals (HUTH) NHS Trust has a vacancy for a Band 5 Education & Development Advisor within Learning and Development.

This post is full time ( hours per week), Monday-Friday each week. Whilst initially the post is offered on a 1 year fixed term basis, the post is expected to continue for 3 years (subject to funding).

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic and versatileindividual to deliver both face to face and online training to the workforce within the NHS Humber Health Partnership Group. The post holder will work with our Lead Trainer for the Oliver McGowan (Learning disability and Autism training) to deliver the training packages across the sites, including (but not limited to) Hull Royal Infirmary, Castle Hill, Scunthorpe General and Grimsby - Diana Princess of Wales. There is also the opportunity for some home/remote working as appropriate to the service needs.

Flexibility from the post holder is essential, as our training offer continues to be shaped by the evolving needs of the organisation, wider healthcare community, and national legislation and guidance.

Our commitment is to develop our people and whilst ideally the successful candidate will possess the relevant teaching and SEN (Special Educational Needs) experience and qualifications, we would be willing to support the successful candidate with any further training if required.

Main duties of the job

The HUTH Learning & Development Department is responsible for facilitating the Trust's Required Learning to ensure that the workforce are able to access their learning in a variety of ways, either in person or remotely.

The department promotes the values of the Group through the provision of expertise and capacity to support teams in accessing their education & development needs to improve the quality of care we provide for patients.

The post holder will be joining a fast paced, forward thinking department working as part of a team, delivering teaching to our colleagues. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work creatively and innovatively, adding their own personal touch to the work they deliver. As a teaching hospital we have access to first class technologies including simulation (scenario based role play), virtual reality, 360 filming and much more, complete with technical support to enhance teaching materials and learning experiences.

The post holder will have excellent communication skills and a proven track record as an educator.

They will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the Oliver McGowan training packages and acting as SEN subject specialist support within the Learning and Development Team. They will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the staff SEN referral service, providing colleagues and managers with advice and support, making a real difference to individual's working lives.
