Job Opportunity:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an Underwriting Technician in London, who will have responsibility for ensuring the Casualty & Accident and Health (A&H) Underwriting teams are suitably enabled to transact business effectively, through accurate timely and complete recording of data, investigation of issues and relevant engagement with external & internal stakeholders. As a contributor to process and system-based improvements in support of the Underwriting team, the role will have significant involvement with the Operations department. The Underwriting Technician will be a key driver of task migration to our operational support area through identifying suitable tasks, training and feedback. As part of a growing business, cross-functional collaborative initiatives will form an ongoing part of the role.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist underwriters with account recording workflow management Ensure consistent and accurate booking information from Underwriters Draft Submissions and quotes in conjunction with Underwriter on our policy management system (Source) Being able to work in a fast-paced environment dealing with highly confidential information Approach Brokers to obtain certain details i.e. Employee Reference Number (ERN) for ELTO Monitor and manage Underwriting file integrity Review and provide support on operational area task completion Observe and capture requirements for process improvements or task migration Support management in producing and monitoring portfolio Participate in the reporting and external engagement for receivables Represent the Operations function within Underwriting teamQualifications, Skills and Experience:
Ideally 2 years commercial insurance experience preferred Understanding of underwriting practices throughout the policy life cycle Must be proactive and able to work collaboratively within a team environment. Demonstrated ability to support and build workflow and process Proven analytical and problem-solving skills must have exceptional attention to detail. Minimum of A-level experience, or equivalent experience Excellent competency in MS Office applicationsBHSI Offers:
