Job summary

We welcome applications for an exciting opportunity that has arisen within the CRN stroke research team at Addenbrooke's. You will provide nursing leadership within the stroke research group. Further details in the attached job description.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for management and coordination of the stroke CRN trials team at CUH, under the supervision of the lead consultant for CRN research, ensuring we best use the resources to maximise requirement to high quality studies, and that they are conducted according to Good Clinical Practice guidelines and department safeguards for the well-being of patient/study participants.

They will lead and manage the stroke CRN research team and provide leadership for the NIHR hyperacute stroke research centre (HSRC) at CUH

In conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, facilitate good quality research, lead and develop the research team and monitor standards of care.

This post is a three-part post involving clinical skills and expert knowledge, research and an educational component.

Responsible for identifying eligible clinical research participants, provision of information and support to patients/ participant, study recruitment and consent, co-ordination of study treatment/ interventions, assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care and data collection according to study protocols in accordance with ICH Good Clinical Practice, EU Clinical Trials legislation and the NHS research Governance framework.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse educated to Degree level Evidence of continuous professional development

Desirable

Research Module. Masters' Degree Post registration qualification in speciality

Experience

Essential

Extensive experience in recruiting to clinical trials and other clinical studies Experience in all aspects of trial management

Desirable

Experience of formal/informal teaching.

Knowledge

Essential

Understanding of evidence-based practice. Understanding of Clinical Governance. Knowledge of clinical research infrastructure in the UK and relevant Research Governance legislation & regulations Understanding of the requirements of Good Clinical Practice & possession of GCP Certificate Knowledge of the role of the clinical research nurse and principles of informed consent for participation in research Knowledge of health research methodology

National Institute for Health Research Current research nursing issues R&D in NHS.
