Graduate Teaching Assistant - Secondary 

Location: Newcastle

Salary: £75 - £100 per day  

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Full-Time/Part-Time

GSL Education Newcastle are currently seeking Graduate Teaching Assistants for secondary schools in Newcastle. This role is ideal for graduates looking to develop their skills in a secondary education setting. 

Job Summary:

As a graduate teaching assistant, you will support classroom activities, help prepare lesson materials, and assist students’ understanding through one-on-one or small group sessions 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work alongside teachers to support teaching and learning in the classroom of KS 3 and KS 4. 
  • Support the inclusion of all students in learning activities. 
  • Work with students on a 1:1 or small group basis to provide interventions and additional support.  
  • Assist relevant subject teachers in managing student behavior.  
  • Foster and encourage positive, effective, nurturing and safe learning environments inspiring pupils to take pride in and learn from their individual achievements. 

Qualifications: 

  • A university degree, or teaching assistant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ) is ideal but not compulsory  
  • Previous experience in a similar role in secondary schools is advantageous but not essential. 
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. 
  • A passion for education and a desire to make a positive impact on young people's lives. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff. 
  • Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
