This is an exciting opportunity for a Behaviour Advisor to join the Enhanced Social Care Support Team, an established Multidisciplinary team which includes Social Workers, Behaviour Advisors and an Occupational Therapist. The role will be working within the principles of Positive Behaviour Support with both children and adults across a variety of settings.

This role is focused on providing professional, specialist knowledge supporting people with a Learning disability and/or autism and those that support them both within Essex and outside the county of Essex. Support will be centred on evidence-based practice, working with professionals to ensure the development, maintenance, and dissemination of exemplary professional behavioural standards throughout the services, in both the public and private sector.

This is an extremely varied role, and you will need to be able to work as part of a team, as well as being able to manage an individual case load. Key responsibilities will include:

Completing Functional Behaviour Assessments Developing Positive Behaviour Support plans that are functional based Completing ‘service specification’ reports which define the support and environmental needs of individuals

Responsibilities will also include…

Providing specialist support to people with Learning disability and autism and those supporting them across multiple environments and varying support networks Attending team clinical supervision and ensuring that knowledge is shared through a number of areas such as team meetings and hybrid resources such as Teams Channels Effectively manage complex cases and provide behavioural guidance, support and specialist advice to social care staff, other professionals including Education and providers to ensure the behavioural needs of individuals are met. Completing written reports that reflect the needs of an individual using PBS principles to evidence person centred recommendations that promote quality of life outcomes. Ensuring that any reports are collaborative and reflect coproduction wherever possible. Facilitating individual choice and empowerment by undertaking early intervention and prevention, promoting independence as far as possible, applying behavioural knowledge and skills for individuals who have complex behaviours that challenge the provision of other services. Working collaboratively with stakeholders, partners and voluntary agencies ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to all aspects of service delivery. Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policy and guidelines on safe and best working practices to ensure risks are considered and appropriately acted upon. Support providers in the delivery of person centred and bespoke support which may include delivering training Ensuring consistency and effectiveness in the implementation of behavioural support plans as agreed by the multidisciplinary network with an emphasis on measurable outcomes Working collaboratively with others to identify and meet people’s needs and to jointly develop services . The individual themselves, Families, Social Care staff, Health Care Professionals, Housing Teams, Education and other providers Providing high quality data and recording ensuring that the information is timely, accurate and complete to ensure the service meets all statutory recording requirements.

You will Bring…

A good level of knowledge and experience for adults and children within the field of Learning Disabilities and/or Autism. Including being educated to degree level in Intellectual and Development Disabilities or a suitable alternative subject . Psychology and a professional qualification in Behavioural management; with evidence of continuing professional development. Strong communication skills and an ability to develop a rapport and engage with diverse groups of individuals. Developing strong relationships with partners, other agencies such as Education, providers and the local community to achieve joint objectives and offer a supportive framework for children and adults. Clear decision-making skills. An approach to behavioural support that focuses on increasing the quality of life of the individuals we support, reduces restrictive practices and increases skills and independence. Experience within a social care setting with evidence of challenging social and family situations. Evidence of working with complex caseload that is underpinned by evidence-based practice. Good organisation skills, ensuring that you are able to be flexible in role delivery and self-manage calendar and appointments

This role involves travelling around Essex and beyond. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential.
