Teaching Personnel are working closely with a Sixth Form College in Gosport who are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Teacher to join their inclusive and supportive community. This is a permanent, part-time role (term time only) position that offers a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young students.

Role and Responsibilities: As a Learning Support Teacher, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with specific identified needs. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing personalised learning support to students with SEND, ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their academic goals.
  • Assisting with personal care tasks, which may include feeding and toileting, to support students with specific needs (full training would be provided).
  • Developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teaching staff and the SEND coordinator.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student well-being and independence.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the development of support strategies.
  • Participating in relevant training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Candidate Requirements: We are looking for a compassionate and motivated individual who meets the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualifications: GCSE C grade or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Experience: Previous experience supporting students with SEND is highly desirable.
  • Compassionate and Motivated: Demonstrates a genuine passion for supporting students with SEND and a commitment to their well-being and academic success.
  • Personal Care: Willingness to potentially provide personal care, including feeding and toileting, as required. 
  • Team Player: Able to work collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff, and parents/carers to provide holistic support to students.
  • Adaptable and Patient: Demonstrate flexibility and patience in responding to the individual needs of students.
