Job summary

The post holder is required to provide high quality clerical and administrative support as a member of the Colposcopy Service within Gynaecology.

The post holder ensures that a comprehensive and user-friendly service is delivered, which meets the recognised national standards for Colposcopy and will work closely with the Colposcopy Coordinator.

The post holder is responsible for managing referrals and booking all appointment types.

The post holder is responsible for data entry and that the data is complete, accurate and entered on to the Colposcopy Database Systems.

The poster holder provides administrative support to the multi-disciplinary team involved in the running of the Colposcopy Service across all sites, including the provision of support for the MDT's and data input of MDT outcomes.

The post holder will be required to have good interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communication, polite and courteous manner along with a professional attitude.

Main duties of the job

Liaison with staff both within and outside the department, extensive contact with GP's, patients, and other relevant external agencies.

Responsibility for providing and receiving complex/sensitive information requiring tact, empathy, and diplomacy.

Respond to a high volume of external/internal enquires via personal, written and telephone queries.

Excellent communication skills required.

To liaise with the CSPL, clinical staff and Governance as appropriate.

Liaison with external agencies/hospitals to obtain reports/information relating to patients

To register patients' demographic details and record referral information accurately on the Trust's clinical system, co-ordinating the movement of referrals through the patient pathway.

To change or cancel outpatient appointments for patients over the telephone. Assist with the management of the PTL.

GCSE's grade C and above, including English and Mathematics

NVQ 3 in administration or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience
