Trainee Nursing Associate Lead and Support

Liverpool, United Kingdom Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job overview

This exciting new role will provide significant career development opportunity to build networks, acquire a deep system appreciation whilst supporting the delivery of the development and introduction of the TNA (Trainee nursing associate) and subsequently NA (Nursing associate) role within maternity services in the Cheshire and Merseyside Local Maternity and Neonatal System (CM LMNS)

The successful candidate will complete this project in three phases. Phase one will involve scoping out the requirement for this post within each of the maternity providers, they will explore barriers to introduction of the TNA/NA in maternity services and work with providers to overcome these barriers. Phase two will involve the post holder working in collaboration with the maternity providers and higher education institutes (HEIs) offering expert advice to support recruitment of TNAs. Phase three will conclude the project with the postholder working with providers to create a pipeline for the future and share the projects progress at regional meetings to enable other systems to understand how this may be implemented. There will also be a piece of work done alongside this project to support the participating maternity providers to enable career progression of the NAs.

Main duties of the job

The role is ideal for clinicians who are interested in developing their leadership, strategic, communication and team working skills, those who are seeking leadership roles for the future and have an interest in workforce improvement and transformation. The role will create the chance to expand strategic thinking and innovation and will enable a broader understanding of NHSE, the LMNS and maternity providers. The post-holder will be exposed to high level interaction and decision-making within the LMNS and develop a detailed understanding of relevant healthcare policy, education and training reform, leadership, management, and delivery.

The successful candidate will be supported to build and develop their professional leadership skills and will have the opportunity to join and support key regional meetings that focus on workforce improvement and transformation. The successful candidate will be supported in their development with regular professional support and coaching. This will be facilitated by the Lead Midwife from within the CM LMNS Regional Workforce Lead from NHSE Workforce, Training and Education Directorate.

You will gain experience of working with senior NHS leaders and stakeholders, exposure to working within systems at all levels, understanding of local and national politics and be involved in significant workforce projects.
