Job summary

Devon has created 2 new Consultant Child and Adolescentposts in its newly developed Urgent Care Pathway that will work within the Crisisand Home treatment Teams (CRHTT). Devon has 3 CRHTTs and an Assertive Outreachteam within its Urgent Care Pathway. Each CRHTT delivers care into our 3 main localitiesserving 4 local hospitals. These posts have medical leadership at their heart;they offer significant scope to work with the leadership team to develop andshape the service; working as part of a committed multidisciplinary team toprovide high standard, timely, accessible care.

The candidate will work alongside a vibrant and thoughtfulconsultant group who are based in localities providing psychiatry to thedifferent mental pathways which include; Managing Mood and Emotions, ManagingEating, Learning Disability and Neurodiversity.

We invite candidates who have a passion and ideas forsupporting young people in crisis or who have complex mental health needs thatneed intensive support. We also invite colleagues with an interest in medicaleducation; the service having strong links with 2 universities and medicalschools.

Devon is a large county with beautiful coastline, moorlandand cities. We invite candidates that are wishing to work full time or lessthan full time also to apply and see what Devon has to offer.

Candidates will be joining Devon CAMHS which isa CQC rated Good service and part of a wider Integrated service withinChildren and Family Health Devon.

Main duties of the job

This is a 10PA post workingin the Urgent Care Pathway. The service has a strong multidisciplinary ethosand successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate a commitment toworking flexibly with colleagues from other disciplines in an integrated way.

The appointee will beexpected to provide psychiatric input to the multidisciplinary team, supportingthe team with clinical decision making, offering clinical assessments andconsultation when appropriate.

There will be aparticularly strong emphasis on clinical leadership, working with service leadsto develop safe and effective services; actively contributing to the strategicdevelopment of the service.

The successful candidatewill join the regular peer group CPD forum and will be supported to become aclinical and/or educational supervisor and engage in teaching opportunities.They would also be supported to develop special interests if in keeping withwider service needs.

The successful candidate will additionally beexpected to participate in on call duties.

Teaching and Supervision / Management

Essential

Evidence of additional teaching skills. Experience as a lecturer or supervisor. Experience in Clinical Supervision. Management training / experience. Experience of involvement in service development.

Qualifications

Essential

Full Registration with the General Medical Council. To hold Approved Clinician status or able to achieve. Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview. Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.

Desirable

MRC Psych OR equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management. Evidence of sub-speciality or other specific training, systemic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy. CCT Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Experience

Essential

Prior experience working in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team. Experience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings, especially the community. Experience of audit and an understanding of the principles of clinical governance.

Desirable

Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service. Clinical experience in a range of services within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Experience in other related specialities, psychotherapy, paediatrics.
