Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN/Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team from September. The successful candidate will work closely with students with SEN and autism, providing tailored support to enhance their educational experience and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN and autism.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Support the classroom teacher in managing and adapting lessons to meet the needs of SEN/ASD students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Assist in the preparation of teaching materials and resources tailored to individual needs.
  • Promote social and emotional development through positive reinforcement and support.
  • Participate in training and professional development to stay current with best practices in SEN and autism support.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant with SEN and autism students, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, or autism support (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Autism Awareness certification).
  • Strong understanding of SEN and autism, including effective strategies for support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN and autism.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
