About the role

Provide Leadership for the Maintenance Team across the Operations division. Organise workload for Technicians – PM’s, W/O’s and TPM actions. Support problem solving and fault finding. Lead improvement and cost reduction activities including root cause analysis with the emphasis on reducing equipment breakdowns. Support department hands on as and when required due to workload, holiday, absence etc. Responsible for management of Technician Team including appraisals, monthly 1:1’s and admin duties such as holidays, training, call out cover etc.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Ensure all work is carried out to H&S standards – Lock out tag out, Permit controlled work etc in line with HASAWA Ensure PM compliance is at a minimum of 90% each month across the Operations manufacturing lines Organise and plan all PM, TPM and W/O activity for the team derived from the CMMS system Ensure spares are controlled, costs are managed and repairable items are readily available – utilize the vending options, consignment stock, bonded spares etc Maintain records of Maintenance work – through pirana system, daily logs etc for Technicians and OEM servicing, repairs and breakdowns to ensure comprehensive history is kept Work with Production to ensure PM, TPM and corrective actions are planned for machine outages as required and any Maintenance follow up is Support/Lead unplanned maintenance activities liaising with production and looking for root causes and countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence – Support out of hours call outs as and when required – support function, occasional on call duties if absence/holidays within the Team Liaise with Production and Engineering to support flow line moves and Project work – installation of equipment, validation and PM introduction – update CMMS system with new equipment introduction Liaise with external suppliers and specialists to fault find and support Machine reliability Move forward with 5S activities in each workshop and ensure standards are adhered to, scores should be > 85% in each workshop Assist with apprentice training and mentoring and organise operator training as needed for TPM activities Attend meetings to provide technical support – traffic light, PSP, production meetings and monthly report meetings Participate in training and development opportunities Occasional offsite travel to visit machine builders, training or equipment inspections Liaise with contractors for new installations, machine repairs Organise training for Maintenance Team Look for opportunities to reduce cost in Maintenance – Reliability of equipment (productivity improvements), MTTR, MTBF and hours Time served Minimum HNC in Mechanical or Electrical H&S qualification (preferred IOSH etc.) Leadership Qualification (preferred) Maintenance experience in a cellular manufacturing environment Experience of planning using a CMMS system Leadership / Supervisory experience (typically gained over a period of 2 years or more) Experience in a high-quality focused environment Experience of Lean tools and methodologies ideally 3C, 5 why etc. Omron PLC experience (Desired) Fanuc Robot experience (Desired) 17th Edition (Desired) Permit to work knowledge & understanding
