Port of Blyth serves as the operational arm of Blyth Harbour Commission, a self-governing statutory trust established in 1882.
It stands as one of the largest Trust Ports in the UK, managing cargo across four terminals situated along the River Blyth.
With significant logistics and training divisions, the Port group has a robust turnover exceeding £31 million, fueled by growth in various sectors, particularly offshore energy, establishing the Port as a key strategic base on the east coast.
The Role
We are seeking a seasoned Electrical Supervisor to guide our maintenance team at the Port of Blyth.
The Port operates a diverse range of cargo handling equipment, including Forklift Trucks, Cranes, and Heavy Plant machinery; familiarity with these types of equipment from both mechanical and electrical perspectives would be beneficial.
Your responsibilities will encompass conducting Electrical Engineering Maintenance on all Electrical Services, Systems, Plant, and Equipment (both Planned and Breakdown), alongside Electrical Installation tasks in compliance with current regulations.
Given the nature of our operations, adaptability and a proactive attitude are essential. You will also assist with the loading and unloading of cargo.
As such, successful candidates will need to familiarize themselves with all aspects of Stevedoring, including operating plant and equipment as needed.
A full driving license is mandatory due to our operations across multiple sites.Remuneration
We offer a competitive remuneration package:
- Starting salary of £37,000, increasing to £38,000. After training, additional payments of £5,000 per annum for a 37.5-hour workweek
- Private medical insurance
- Defined contribution pension plan
- Bonus program
At Port of Blyth, we regard our employees as our most valuable assets and provide a comprehensive range of benefits, including a competitive salary, a generous bonus program, free private medical coverage, and regular staff events to foster a supportive environment for employee success.
In 2023, it participated in the North East Better Health at Work Award and established a team of Health Advocates to develop tailored health campaigns and initiatives for the workforce.
These initiatives include activities such as Gym in the Park sessions, Free Bike Health Checks, and NHS Free Health Checks, all of which have been positively received by staff.
The Port's commitment to enhancing health and wellness was recognized at the Maritime UK Awards 2024, where it received the Employer of the Year Award.
This achievement not only honored our employees but also served as a source of pride and motivation to continue striving for excellence.
