Principle Accountabilities:

 

  • The role holder is responsible for development of mechanical aspects of the plant improvement programme, specification of mechanical works in support of Turnarounds, major asset improvement and refurbishment projects.
  • They shall provide technical expertise to the Maintenance & Operations teams on the Olefins plant, including Fitness for Purpose Assessment, RBI, reliability improvement, integrity management, asset life planning, management of change and project, maintenance and plant turnaround support.
  • Evaluates and defines projects, supports process improvements, completes root cause analysis and develops action plans, assesses options based on risk and financial criteria, performs design and engineering tasks and coordinates own activities with other engineers and operating groups on production / maintenance / process planning and improvement activities, programs and projects.
  • Support junior engineers in their development as responsible engineers.

 

Qualifications & Experience Required: 

 

  • Candidates should be degree-qualified (or equivalent) Chartered Engineer and have 10+ years of experience of engineering or maintenance activities on a COMAH-registered plant, with experience of acting as Appointed Person or Nominee.
  • They should be familiar with relevant asset types including: pressure systems (process vessels, distillation columns heat exchangers and piping), storage tanks, machines (e.g. pumps) and pressure relief systems. 
  • Management of ageing plant, including awareness of corrosion, erosion, fatigue and other typical industry deterioration mechanisms is desirable.
  • Prior awareness of procedures covering management of change and pressure systems integrity (e.g. RBI, FFP, API inspection standards, ASME and British Standard design codes) and reliability techniques (e.g. FMEA, RCA, RCM) would be an advantage.
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong concern for EHSS standards and behaviours in all they do.  Able to work autonomously, with a proven ability to influence groups and individuals at all levels of the Organisation. 
  • Fluency in English (both written and verbal)
