Position: PMLD Teaching Assistant

The Role:

As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will be an essential part of our team, supporting our students' educational and personal development. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing individualized support to students with PMLD, ensuring their physical, emotional, and educational needs are met.
  • Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering personalized learning activities.
  • Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that caters to the sensory and communication needs of students.
  • Implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and personal care plans.
  • Supporting students with personal care tasks, including feeding, toileting, and mobility.
  • Monitoring and documenting students' progress and collaborating with the SENCO and teaching staff.
  • Working closely with other professionals, including therapists and medical staff, to provide holistic support for students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with PMLD.
  • A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to undertake further training as required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
